Every role you can give a team member, what it is for, where it lands after sign-in and which menus it sees.
You pick one or more roles when you add a team member. The form names the roles as below. Team cards show the first four with the word "Shop" in front, for example Shop Manager and Shop Sales Manager.

Most menu items appear only when their feature is in use in your shop. The pages for each group of roles list the condition for every item:
The form tags each role Full panel or Only its own pages.
Only its own pages. The role is held to the pages of its own menu. The form says: "They can only open the pages listed below; everything else in your shop panel is blocked." A page outside the list sends the person back to a page of their own role.
Full panel. The role is not held to a fixed list of pages. Its menu shows the areas the role is meant to work in. Some screens also check the role themselves. Reports, for example, are for the owner, Manager, Sales Manager and Report Analyzer. See Who can see reports.
Settings, Managers and the rest of the Shop menu belong to the owner. See The Shop menu.
Where your shop is billed through a plan, every role except Picker counts towards the plan's staff accounts. See Add a team member.
The Picker role needs the picker feature. While it is off for your shop, a Picker is signed out again as soon as they sign in, unless they are also a Manager. Ask support to enable it.
