Turn tax on with one rate

Charge the same tax rate on every product, either inside your prices or added at checkout.

Who can use this

Shop owner

Use this when all your products carry the same rate. For different rates, see Create tax categories.

Open the tax settings
Go to Shop › Settings and select the Tax Settings tab.
Switch tax on
1. Turn on Enable Tax.
You can also switch it on from the Tax card in Shop › Features. See Turn features on.
Name the tax
1. Enter the Tax Name, for example VAT or GST. This name is printed on invoices. Shops with more than one language can translate it.
Enter the rate
1. Under General tax Settings, enter the Tax Percentage as a number, without the % sign.
Say whether prices include it
1. Turn is Tax Included on when your prices already contain the tax. Turn it off to add the tax on top at checkout.
Add a tax ID if you need one
Tax ID is optional and used when tax categories are off. It is not printed on invoices. It is sent with each order line to Zoho when that integration is on.
Save
Select Save Settings.

What changes

New orders are taxed at this rate. Orders already placed keep the tax they had.
Invoices of those orders print the tax name, the rate, the tax amount and the total before tax.
The HS / HSN code field appears on the product form.
A rate of 0 charges no tax, even with the switch on.

Change the rate or the included switch on the same tab at any time. Only new orders use the new values.
