What incomplete orders are, where to find them, and how to place, finish or cancel one.
An incomplete order is an order that was started but never placed. It holds a customer, an address and usually products, but it is not in your work queue and no alert was raised for it.
There are two kinds:
Incomplete orders are hidden from the normal list.
The order page shows a red Incomplete Order badge. Payment may read Not selected yet.
| Button | Effect |
|---|---|
| Continue Editing Order | Opens the change page so you can add or correct products and charges |
| move to orders | Places the order |
| Cancel Order | Cancels it. See Cancel an order |
Incomplete orders cannot be accepted, marked ready or delivered until they are placed.
Open the order. Confirm with the customer that they still want it, and check the products, address and total.
For an online payment, select Details beside Paid Online : to see the gateway status. If no payment arrived, agree with the customer how they will pay.
Placing does what a normal checkout does: the order moves to Order Placed, its stock is taken, the new-order alert rings, and the usual order-placed notices go out. A demo order takes no stock and sends nothing. Wallet balance that was returned to the customer when the checkout was abandoned is taken again. You can then accept it.
Cancelling an incomplete order records a Balance to refund only if its online payment succeeded. An abandoned or failed checkout took no money, so nothing is owed.
