See what the stock you hold right now is worth at today's cost prices, in total, per location and per product.
Where to find itReportsStock value
Before you start
Stock tracking and Cost and margin tracking must both be on under Shop › Features, and reports must be part of your package.
Needs
Turn it on in Shop › Features (ask support if you do not see it)
Who can use this
Shop owner, Shop Manager, Shop Product Manager
Stock value multiplies the units you have on hand by each product's current cost price. It has no date range: the page says "As of now, at each product's current cost price."
Who sees it
The link is in the Reports menu when all of these are true:
Stock tracking and Cost and margin tracking are both on under Shop › Features.
You may see cost prices: the owner, or a Shop Manager or Shop Product Manager while the owner allows it in Stock control settings.
A Shop Product Manager has no Reports menu. They open Stock control in the top bar and use its Stock value tab.
The summary tiles
Tile (1)
Meaning
Stock value
Units on hand × current cost price, added up
Units on hand
All units above zero
Units with a cost price
The share of those units whose product has a cost price
Products without cost
Products in stock that have no cost price
Two notes can appear under the tiles:
"… units of … products have no cost price and are not in the value. Add cost prices on the product pages or with a CSV import (cost_price column)."
"… products are below zero (sold before they were in stock); they count as zero here."
Units without a cost price and negative stock are shown apart. They are never valued at 0 without telling you.
The tables
With more than one location, a first table lists each Location with its Units on hand, Stock value and Units with a cost price. Use the location filter to narrow the whole report to one location.
The products table (3) lists the 100 most valuable products: Product, Barcode, Units on hand, Cost price and Stock value. A product without a cost shows No cost price. Select a product name to open it.
What is counted
Products that track stock: simple products and each variant. Deleted products are left out.
Your active locations. A manager limited to some locations sees only those.
Download CSV
Download CSV (2) gives one line for every product at every location, not only the first 100. The columns are Location, Product ID, Product, Barcode, External ID, Quantity, Cost price and Value.
You opened the report while one of the two switches is off: "Stock value needs stock tracking and cost tracking. Turn both on to see what your stock is worth. Cost prices and stock recorded before are kept." The owner also gets a Turn it on in Settings button
"Only people who can see cost prices can open this report."
Your role, or the owner's setting, does not allow costs
