Your store can answer on several addresses: the free one and each domain you connected. One of them is the main address. Every other address redirects visitors to it.
Make a domain the main address
- Open Shop › Online Store › Domains.
- On a domain whose chip reads Connected, select Make main.
The panel answers "… is now your main address. The other addresses redirect to it." The domain gets the Main address chip, and Overview › Your address shows it as the link.
Make main is not shown on a domain that is still connecting. A request for one answers "A domain has to be connected before it can be the main address."
Remove a domain
- Select Remove on the domain.
- Confirm "Remove …? Visitors using it will no longer reach your store."
The panel answers "… was removed." The store stops answering on that domain. If it was the main address, the free address becomes main.
Afterwards, delete the records at your domain provider, or point the domain wherever you want it next.
Your free address cannot be removed: "Your free store address cannot be removed." It has no Remove button.
Things to know before you switch
- Links that customers saved keep working, because the other addresses redirect to the main one.
- A removed domain can be connected again later. It gets a new verification code, so the TXT record must be updated. Update the record first and select Check now after connecting: the 72 hours of automatic checks count from the first time the domain was connected, so a domain removed long ago is not re-checked for long.
