Gift cards as payment

A gift card is money the buyer already paid you. When its holder uses it at checkout, it lowers what is still owed.

At checkout

The customer enters the gift card on the checkout page. Its balance comes off the order total.

• The card covers part of the order. The customer pays the rest with any method your checkout offers.
• The card covers the whole order. Nothing else is charged, and the order's payment method is recorded as Gift card.

A gift card can be combined with the wallet. Both are taken off before any online payment or cash on delivery amount is worked out.

Effect on other rules

• Cash on delivery limits apply to what the rider collects, after the gift card.
• Saved cards in the app are charged at accept for the total minus wallet and gift cards. See Saved cards.

Selling and issuing gift cards

Gift cards are created and sold under Marketing Tools › Gift cards. The menu appears once gift cards are switched on for your shop, or once a gift card has been issued.

Refunds

A gift card payment did not go through a gateway, so there is nothing to refund at a provider.

• The order is cancelled. What the card paid goes back on the card automatically. Only the part paid another way is left as Balance to refund.
• The total is lowered below what the card paid. The excess goes back on the card.
