How customers pick a delivery slot, schedule an order for another day or choose express delivery.
For local delivery, the Delivery step can ask the customer when they want the order. Courier shipments show a shipping option instead and have no time slot.
When Enable Order Schedule is on and your shop has delivery slots, the step shows a "Delivery time" picker. It lists days, starting "Today" and "Tomorrow", and the slots of each day. With the switch off, no picker is shown and the order has no delivery time.
A slot can fill up while the customer is paying attention elsewhere. They then read "That delivery time is no longer available. Please choose another one." Nothing is picked for them at that point.
The order page later shows "Delivery time:" with the chosen slot.
On a shop with several locations, the slots are those of the location that serves the address.
To change this: Delivery › Delivery Slot Groups. See Delivery slots and Slot groups.
The picker offers as many days as Order Schedule For (in days) says, so customers can order for a later day.
Enable Order Schedule also keeps checkout open while you are not taking orders:
| Customer sees | When |
|---|---|
| "We are closed right now" and "You can still order — choose a day for your order below." | You are outside your order hours, and scheduling is on |
| "Schedule your order", with a "Delivery date" or "Pickup date" | The customer must choose a day |
| A date marked "store closed" | A closure date of the pickup store |
| "Choose a date and time when the shop is taking orders." | The chosen time is outside what you allow |
While Ready For Delivery is off the same invitation is shown, but a delivery order is still refused when it is placed. Without scheduling, a closed shop blocks checkout. See Open, closed, password and demo states.
To change this: Let customers schedule orders.
When express is offered, the step shows an "Express delivery" choice with the text "Get it faster for a small fee", unless you gave it your own title.
Express is a local delivery. It is offered only when the switch is on and your shop delivers with its own drivers. A shop that only ships by courier, or only offers pickup, never shows it.
To change this: the Express delivery card in Shop › Features, and the express title, charge and hours in the delivery settings. See Express delivery.
