Who can use this
Shop owner, Shop Product Manager
The Sales channels card holds the extra details product feeds need. Everything here is optional. The card is collapsed and labelled "optional · Google category, condition" until you open it or the product has values.
Fields
Field
What to choose
1. Google product category
Type at least two letters to search Google's list, for example "dairy". Leave it empty to use the Google category of the product's own category; the hint under the field names which one that is
2. Condition
New (default), Refurbished or Used
3. Age group
Not set, Newborn (up to 3 months), Infant (3–12 months), Toddler (1–5 years), Kids (5–13 years) or Adult
4. Gender
Not set, Female, Male or Unisex
5. MPN (manufacturer part number)
Only when the product has no barcode. Google then identifies it by brand and MPN
6. Hide from channels
One tick box per connected channel: "Don't send this product to" followed by the channel's name. The product stays on your website and apps
Set age group and gender for clothing and accessories; Google asks for them there.
The link Set Google categories for your categories opens the page where you map each of your categories once, so most products need nothing here.
Status line
When Google is connected, a line at the top of the card shows how Google sees this product, with the issue if there is one. The owner also gets a Details link.
Products with variants
Every variant uses the product's values. A variant can set its own MPN, or be hidden from a channel, in the Sales channels part of the Variants tab. On a product with variants, the product card has no MPN field.
In bulk
The bulk edit grid has Google product category, Condition and Hide from Google columns.
The CSV import reads google_product_category, condition, mpn, age_group, gender and exclude_from_google: see Product CSV columns.
