Connect DHL Express

Link your DHL Express account through the MyDHL API so you can book international and domestic express parcels from your orders.

Before you start

Shipping must be enabled for your shop, and you need MyDHL API credentials linked to your DHL Express account number. Turn on Courier shipping in Shop › Features. If you do not see it there, ask support.

Who can use this

Shop owner

DHL Express supports live rates, a serviceability check, labels, pickup booking and tracking. It has no cash on delivery, status webhook, manifest or return pickup; see the courier comparison.

A DHL parcel has no Cancel button: cancel it with DHL.

Get these from DHL first

Ask DHL Express for MyDHL API access; the form's help text names developer.dhl.com. You need an API key and an API secret linked to your DHL Express account number. Test keys work only with the test environment.

Connect

Open the form
Go to Delivery › Couriers, select Add courier and choose DHL Express.

Enter the account

Set the shipping defaults

Default DHL product code	Used when no rate is chosen. P is Express Worldwide parcels, N is Express Domestic, D is Express Worldwide documents. Empty: P abroad, N at home

Duties and taxes (incoterm)	International only. DAP — receiver pays duties and taxes (default) or DDP — you pay duties and taxes. DDP needs DHL to enable it on your account
Contents description	For customs. Empty: the item names of each order
Country of origin of goods	Empty: the shipper country
Customs value currency	Empty: the shop currency

Save and test
Set the shared options described in Couriers, select Add courier, then Test connection. A pass says "DHL Express accepted the API key and account …" and counts the products available from your city.

Good to know

The label is stored at booking, so Label reopens it later.
International parcels need customs details: every item needs an HS code and a price. Set the HS code on each product.

Troubleshooting

"DHL Express rejected the API key / secret …" The key, the secret or Environment is wrong. Test keys need Test (sandbox).
"… accepted the API key, but offered no product from … to itself — check the shipper address." Correct the city, postcode and country.
"The dhl_express courier account … is not configured: … must be set." Fill the named fields and save.
"DHL Express rates need the delivery city." The delivery address has no city. Add the city to the address, then try again.
