Three optional parts of checkout let a customer tell you more about an order. Each is controlled in Order Settings.
With gift orders on, a delivery order has a "Gift" section with the box "Send this order as a gift".
The customer reads: "Enter the recipient’s address as the delivery address. You pay, and every order update comes to you."
| Field | Shown when |
|---|---|
| "Recipient’s name" and "Recipient’s phone" | Always. The phone is for the driver or courier |
| "Gift message (optional)" with a count of characters left | Allow A Gift Message is on. The limit is your Gift Message Length |
| "From (optional)" | With the message. Left empty, the buyer's name is used |
| "Add gift wrap", with its price or "Free" | Offer Gift Wrap is on. The price is your Gift Wrap Price |
| "Hide prices from the recipient" | Always. The customer reads "The packing slip shows no prices." |
| "Tell the recipient when it is out for delivery" | Notify The Recipient When Out For Delivery is on. It is one text message, with no price, link or order number |
Gift wrap adds a "Gift wrap" row to the order summary.
A customer who chose pickup reads "Gift options are for delivery orders. Choose delivery to send this order as a gift." The section is not shown when buying gift cards.
The buyer's order page shows a "Gift" block with the recipient, the card message and the choices made.
To change this: Guest checkout and gift order settings. How you handle such an order: Gift orders.
With Enable Order Comment on, checkout shows "Order note (optional)" with the hint "Anything we should know? e.g. leave at the door". Some themes also show a note box in the cart.
You see the note on the order in the panel.
To change this: Order Settings reference.
With order attachments on, checkout shows an "Attachments" section where the customer adds files, for example a prescription.
| Message | Cause |
|---|---|
| "This file type is not supported." | Not an image or a PDF |
| "Files must be 5 MB or smaller." | The file is too large |
| "This file is empty." | The file has no content |
To change this: the attachment switches in Order Settings. See Order attachments.
