Change only the columns in your file, on products you already have; nothing new is ever created.
Where to find itCatalogueProductsActionsImport / update by ID, barcode or external ID
Before you start
Bulk import is included in every billing plan. The menu item is hidden only while your shop's package is set to free, which is a platform setting and not your plan. Ask support about your package.
Use this tool for price lists, stock counts and similar files. It changes only what you put in the file. Columns you leave out stay as they are, and rows that match no product are skipped.
Open the tool
On Catalogue › Products, select Actions › Import / update by ID, barcode or external ID.
Prepare the file
The first row holds the column names. Include one of id, barcode or external_id to find each product, plus the columns you want to change. For example:
Drop or select the file: up to 50,000 rows. Download sample CSV gives you a file with every column.
Select Upload and preview.
The Back up my products first switch does not produce a backup file at present. Run an export first if you want a copy.
Review and update
The page shows Ready to update with the number of products to update and the number skipped for having no match. Select Review and update, then start the run. It appears under Past updates when it finishes.
Values are described in Product CSV columns. Dates use YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS. With stock tracking off, enable_stock, stock_quantity and stock_alert_quantity are not listed and are ignored if present.
Junior Product Managers
A junior sees Your access instead of the full list, and can update only the price, offer, stock, code and active columns. See What a Junior Product Manager can change.
The older flexible CSV tool
The product page of the ready-made catalogue has an Import By Barcode button. It opens Import/Update By Barcode, External ID or ID (Flexible CSV), which also updates products from a file with any columns. It has no entry in the Actions menu.
Flexible CSV tool
The file needs
An id or a barcode column. A file with neither is refused with "CSV must contain either an id or barcode column"
