Offers and reminders go only to customers who opted in on that channel, and never during your quiet hours.
Before the shop sends a marketing message by e-mail, WhatsApp or SMS, it checks that the customer agreed to it. This page explains that check and the one screen where you set its rules. Order updates, sign-in codes and receipts are not marketing and are never held back by consent.
Consent is recorded per channel and per contact: an e-mail address for Email, a phone number for WhatsApp and SMS.
| Message | Consent rule | Quiet hours |
|---|---|---|
| Abandoned cart reminders | An opt-in on that channel. Ticking the box during checkout, before ordering, covers reminders for that cart only | Held until they end |
| Back in stock alerts by e-mail or WhatsApp | The customer's own request for the alert is enough. An opt-out on that channel always blocks it | Held until they end |
| Push notifications | Not checked. The permission the customer gave on their phone is what counts | Not applied |
Cart reminders also respect a limit on how often one contact is messaged on a channel.
Open the Shop menu and select Marketing consent. Only the shop owner can open it.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1. The checkout "Send me offers" box covers | Tick Email, WhatsApp and SMS as you need. A customer who ticks the box is opted in to these channels only. Each shows how many contacts are opted in |
| 2. Quiet hours | From and Until, in your shop's time zone. No offers or reminders are sent between them; they wait until the end. The same start and end means no quiet hours. The form states the longest window allowed |
| 3. Consent wording version | A label saved with every opt-in, so you can prove which wording the customer saw. Change it when you change the wording. Letters, digits, dots, colons, hyphens and underscores, up to 64 characters |
Select Save. The checkout box on your website follows the new channels.
Marketing SMS needs a registered sender and templates in some countries. The screen reminds you when SMS is ticked.
Latest consent changes lists the last 50 changes: when, the channel, the change, its source and the customer. A change by someone without an account shows Guest.
Consent is collected by your website checkout and through WhatsApp. A shop with neither, and no consent on record, sees this note above the form, and saving is refused:
| Message | Cause |
|---|---|
| Quiet hours can be at most … hours long. | The window is longer than the platform allows |
| Only the shop owner can change marketing consent settings. | A staff account opened the screen |
