With cash on delivery the rider or courier collects the money. It needs no credentials and is on for every new shop.
Switch it on or off
Open the Payment Gateways tab
Go to Shop › Settings › Payment Gateways. If you do not see the tab, your platform manages this for you. See Who manages your payments.
Add or remove Cash On Delivery
Add Cash On Delivery to the Payment Gateways list, or remove it, then select Save Settings.
Pay on pickup
There is no separate pay-on-pickup method. On a store pickup order, Cash On Delivery means the customer pays cash when they collect.
Limits, codes and blocked customers
Minimum and maximum order amounts, confirmation codes, the risk score and the blocklist are all under Customers › COD & risk. They are off until you turn them on. See COD & risk.
There is no partial cash on delivery or deposit. The amount collected is the order total after any wallet balance and gift card.
COD fee on courier shipping
A COD fee is set per shipping rate, not shop-wide. On the shipping rate form:
- Customers can pay cash on delivery allows or forbids cash on delivery for that rate.
- COD fee is optional. Leave it empty for no fee.
The fee is added to the delivery charge of cash and card on delivery orders that use that rate.
Shipping rates exist only when courier shipping is on for your shop.
Guests
On the Order Settings tab:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|
| Verify Phone With OTP | Guests confirm their phone number with a one-time code before ordering |
| Allow Pay On Delivery Without OTP | Only matters when the code is off. On: guests whose number was not verified may also pay on delivery. The setting's own hint says "Not recommended." |
With the code off and Allow Pay On Delivery Without OTP off, cash and card on delivery are refused for guests.
Troubleshooting
- Customers see "Cash on delivery isn't available for this order". A COD & risk rule applied, or the shipping rate for their address does not allow cash on delivery. See COD & risk.
- The COD & risk page only says cash on delivery is not switched on. Add Cash On Delivery to the list first.
