Make checkout charge your zone rates, choose the countries you ship to, and keep local delivery for nearby addresses if you want it.

Before you start
Shipping must be enabled for your shop, and at least one zone with an active rate should exist first. Turn on Courier shipping in Shop › Features. If you do not see it there, ask support.

Who can use this
Shop owner
Until Delivery Area is By Shipping Zones, customers are not charged your zone rates. Build your zones and rates first, then switch.

Open Delivery Settings
Go to Shop › Settings and open the Delivery Settings tab.
Choose By Shipping Zones
Set Delivery Area to By Shipping Zones. The option is listed only when your shop has shipping.
Decide about local delivery
Also Deliver Locally: choose No, ship every order by courier, or Yes, my own drivers deliver nearby addresses.
With Yes, set Local Delivery Area to Within the delivery radius of my shop or Inside my delivery locations (drawn areas). Those addresses get your local delivery charge, time slots and express. Every other address is shipped with your zones.
Check the countries you ship to
Under the Shipping heading, review Ship To Countries. Left empty, it means your shop's country only. Saving a zone adds its countries here for you.
You can also set Show Delivery Estimate and Fill Address From Map Pin. Both are described in Shipping and courier settings.
Save
Save the settings. The Delivery menu now shows Shipping zones & rates and Couriers.
What stops applying
With Also Deliver Locally set to No, the tab states: "Radius, time slot and express settings are not used in this mode." The local-only fields, such as Delivery Radius in Km, are hidden. Prices come from your zones.
Only accept orders inside my delivery area is not used in this mode: only addresses your zones cover can order.
Orders already placed keep the delivery charge they were placed with.
Starting from local delivery instead
A shop on By Radius or By Places that has shipping sees Also Ship By Courier. Choose Yes, ship to addresses outside my local area with shipping zones and save. This switches Delivery Area to By Shipping Zones, sets Also Deliver Locally to Yes, and keeps your current radius or places as the local area.
Change it later
Switch Delivery Area back to By Radius or By Places at any time. Your zones and rates are kept, but customers are no longer charged them. Booking parcels with a courier keeps working in any delivery area while your shop has shipping. See delivery modes.
Troubleshooting
"By Shipping Zones is not enabled for this shop. Ask your platform admin to enable the shipping feature." Shipping is not on for your shop. See Who turns it on.
"Your active zones cover … which is not in Ship To Countries — customers there cannot order." Add the named countries to Ship To Countries and save.
