Product and category imports and exports run in the background. Each tool keeps its own list of runs on its own page, so there is no separate downloads area.
Each row has a status, the file name, when it ran, how long it took, and counts of rows created and updated. Select the row to open it:
Dates: Added, Started, Finished, and how long it Took.
Buttons for the file you uploaded and for any file the run produced, such as the export itself.
A summary line for each count.
The error text, if the run failed.
While a run is in progress, the page shows its progress in place of the upload form. Each tool runs one job at a time.
Backups
CSV import and the update tool have a Back up my products first switch. It does not produce a backup file at present. To keep a copy you can restore from, run an export with Export everything before you import. To restore, import that file again.
Files with cost prices
A file that contains cost prices is offered only to people who may see costs. Everyone else sees "This file contains cost prices. Only people who may see costs can download it." An uploaded file that carries costs is offered to the person who uploaded it and to people who may see costs.
How long runs and files are kept
Old runs are cleared once a day. A run and its files are removed when it has not changed for 30 days. That is the default; the platform can set a different period.
Two things are never removed by this clean-up:
A run that is waiting or in progress.
The latest completed run of each tool, so your most recent export or import stays available.
An uploaded file that was never started is treated the same way and removed after the retention period.
Other CSV files in the panel
Orders, reports, shipments, the activity log and stock history download straight to your computer when you ask for them. They are not stored in these lists. See Stock history for the stock file.
