Build a page from sections in the editor's Sections tab.
A page is a stack of sections. The Sections tab lists them in three groups: Header, the page you chose in the page picker, and Footer.
Header and footer sections show on every page. The middle group belongs to the current page only. See Header, footer and announcement bar.
Select the section the new one should follow, then select Add section under that group. The new section is placed after the selected one.
The dialog lists the sections the theme allows in that place: "N sections available for this page", or "for this area" in the header and footer.
Select Add on the card. A section with ready-made starting points has one button each, labelled "Add · " and the name, for example a product row already set to best sellers.
| What you see | Reason |
|---|---|
| The section is not in the list | The theme does not allow it on this page, or it belongs to the header or footer only |
| Limit reached, with the tooltip "This page already has the maximum of N" | The section can be used a set number of times per page. A counter such as "1/2" on the card shows how many are used |
| "No sections can be added here." | Nothing more is allowed in this area |
| A page's main section is not offered | The page already has it. It is offered only if the page lost its own |
What each section does is in the catalogue, starting at Sections every theme has.
Point at a section's row to see its action icons. Each tooltip names the action and the section, for example "Hide Slideshow". The same actions are at the top of its settings panel.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Select | Opens its settings. You can also select the section in the preview |
| Drag the handle | Moves it up or down within its group. The handle also works from the keyboard |
| Hide / Show | Keeps the section and its settings but leaves it off the website |
| Duplicate | Makes a copy. Greyed out when the page already has the maximum of that section |
| Delete | Removes it. A notice "Deleted …" offers Undo. A page's main section has no delete button; hide it instead |
| Expand | Shows the section's blocks. See Blocks |
A section cannot be dragged from the page into the header or footer, or the other way.
A small calendar icon on a row means the section has visibility rules. See Section visibility. A red number on a row counts the settings in it that need attention.
From 40 sections on one page the tab warns: "40 sections on this page. Pages load slower with every section — consider removing or hiding the ones you do not need."
Every change is saved to your draft and can be undone. Customers see it after you publish.
