Facebook access is given to a person and can end. When it does, your catalogue stops updating until you reconnect.
When access is about to end
The Access row of the Connected card shows Until … with a date, or Does not expire.
In the last days before the date, the page shows: "Your Facebook access ends on …. Click Reconnect before then so your catalog keeps updating." The shop owner is also e-mailed once when access is about to end, and once when it has ended.
Select Reconnect and continue with Facebook. Your business and catalogue stay chosen.
When access has ended
The page shows Reconnect Facebook: "Meta no longer accepts this connection — access was removed, the password changed or the access expired. Products are not being sent to your catalog until you reconnect."
The same happens when you remove the app in your Facebook business settings. The products already in the catalogue stay there; they are no longer updated.
Disconnect
Disconnecting "stops sending products to Meta, removes them from the catalog and removes the access. The catalog itself stays in your business."
Disconnect
On the Meta page, in the Disconnect card, select Disconnect and confirm "Disconnect Meta?".
Watch the removal
Removal runs in the background. The page shows "Meta is disconnected. Your products are being removed from the catalog — this can take a few minutes. Refresh this page to see when it is done." with a count: "Removed so far: … of … products."
Read the result
| Message | Meaning |
|---|
| "Meta disconnected, and your products were removed from the catalog." | Finished |
| "Meta disconnected. Some of your products may stay in the catalog: remove them in Commerce Manager." | The removal could not finish. Delete the rest in Commerce Manager |
| "To be sure, also remove this app in your Facebook business settings (Business integrations)." | Meta did not confirm that the access was cancelled |
Change business or catalogue
Use Change next to Business or Catalog on the Connected card. Your products are removed from the catalogue you leave, in the background; a banner shows the progress. A catalogue the panel created for you is deleted once it is empty.
Requests made on Facebook
A person can also act from their Facebook account:
- Removing the app. Every Meta connection that person made needs a reconnect, and the owner is e-mailed.
- Asking Meta to delete their data. The connection is disconnected, and the Facebook identifiers held for it are erased: the person, the business and the catalogue. Meta gives the person a link to a public page, Facebook data deletion request, showing a Confirmation code and a Status of In progress or Completed.
That page adds: "Products already in a Facebook catalog belong to that catalog: remove them in Meta Commerce Manager if you no longer want them there."
