A "report a problem" request is a return where nothing comes back, such as a missing or spoiled item. With instant refunds on, the panel refunds such a request the moment the customer sends it.

When a request is refunded instantly
All of these must be true:
the customer sent the request. Returns you create are never refunded instantly;
it is a return, not an exchange, and every item's reason starts with ! in Return Reasons;
the order has a customer account;
the refund is above 0 and not above Instant Refund Limit (amount);
the method in Instant Refund To is allowed in Refund Methods and available for the order: the wallet is on, or the order was paid with Tabby or Tamara;
the customer has had fewer instant refunds in your shop in the last 30 days than the limit.
What happens
The request is approved, received, accepted in full and refunded in one go. Nothing is restocked. The refund moves money exactly as in Refund a return.
The return ends as Refunded, and Details shows Problem report with refunded instantly. The customer gets the requested and the refunded messages only.
When it does not happen
The request stays Return requested and comes to you like any other. A shop-only note on its Timeline starts with "No instant refund:" and gives the reason, for example that the refund is over the limit.
If Approve Automatically is on, the request is then approved and moves straight to Received by the shop, waiting for your inspection.
If the refund itself fails part-way, the timeline says "Instant refund stopped:" and you finish the return by hand.
