How each kind of field in a settings panel works, including text in more than one language.
Every section, block and theme setting is made of the same few kinds of field. This page covers the general ones. Pictures are on Images; links and product pickers are on Links and pickers.
A text field has one input per website language. Each carries a badge with the language code, for example "AR".
A shop with one language sees one input. Languages are set in the panel. See Website languages.
Longer text has a small toolbar.

| Link | Opens Link address; confirm with Add link. The shortcut is ⌘K or Ctrl+K |
| Clear formatting | Removes styling from the selection |
| Edit HTML | Shows the text as HTML. Back to formatted text returns |
"Pasted formatting is tidied to what the store shows." Text pasted from a document keeps bold, italic, links and lists and loses the rest.

| Colour | Type a hex value such as #1A2B3C, or select Pick colour for a picker |
| Colour scheme | Choose one of the theme's schemes, "Scheme 1", "Scheme 2" and so on. The schemes themselves are edited in the Theme tab. See Colour schemes |
| Font | Choose from the fonts the theme offers |
If a section uses a scheme that was deleted, its field says "This colour scheme was deleted — choose another."

| Number | Type a value. Limits show as "Minimum N" or "Maximum N" when you go outside them |
| Slider | Drag between the smallest and largest value. A unit, where the field has one, is shown beside it |
| Date | Pick a day |
| Date and time | Pick a day and a time. It is marked Shop time |
| Icon | Pick from a grid of icons. None removes it |
| List | A repeatable group of fields. "Add" and the item name adds one; Move up, Move down and "Remove item N" manage them |
Clear empties a field that may be left empty.
A value the theme does not accept shows a red message under the field, and the draft is not saved until it is corrected.

| "At most N characters" | The text is too long |
| "Use a hex colour like #1A2B3C" | The colour is not a hex value |
| "Must be a whole number" | Decimals are not allowed here |
| "Use a date and time" | The date field is incomplete |
| "At most N items" | The list is full |
