Show "Order on WhatsApp" and a WhatsApp link on your website, and know what the button does.
Your website can link customers straight to a chat with your WhatsApp number. It is a contact link: it does not use your WhatsApp connection and sends nothing by itself.

The customer finishes the order with you in the chat. No order is created in your panel by this button; create it yourself if you take the order. See Create an order.
"Order on WhatsApp" is not shown on gift card products.

Go to Shop › Online Store › Preferences. In Social links, fill WhatsApp number with the country code, then select Save preferences. See Preferences: social links and WhatsApp.
The same number is on Shop › Settings › Social Media Settings; saving it in either place is enough. See Social Media Settings reference.
Go to Shop › Features and turn on WhatsApp store. It needs a plan that includes the WhatsApp store. See Turn features on.
In the editor's theme settings, under Store features, check Show "Order on WhatsApp" on product pages and, where your theme has it, Show floating WhatsApp button. Your theme's preset decides whether each starts on. Publish if you change them. See Brand and store features.
A number saved as you would dial it locally still works: the website adds your shop's country code when it builds the link.
WhatsApp channel, on the same card, is the share link of your WhatsApp channel. It is shown with your other social links and has nothing to do with ordering.
