Variants

Generate the variants of a product and set each one's price, stock, codes, weight and picture.

Before you start

Product variants must be on. Turn it on in Shop › Features. If you do not see it there, ask support.

Who can use this

Shop owner, Shop Product Manager, Junior Product Manager

The Variants tab lists every variant of a product as a row. Each row shows the option values, the price, and Out of stock or Hidden badges. Open a row to edit it.

Buttons above the list

Button	What it does
1. Expand all / Collapse all	Opens or closes every row
2. Generate missing	Creates every combination of your options that does not exist yet. Existing variants are kept. A badge beside the title shows how many are missing
3. Delete all	Deletes every variant after a confirmation. Customers cannot order the product until you generate them again

With no variants yet, the tab shows No variants yet and a Generate variants button. With no options, it shows Add options first.

A variant row

The drop-downs at the start of the row say which option values the variant stands for. The bin deletes that one variant.

Select the arrow to open the row.

Group	Fields
Price	Price. Add discount opens Selling (required), Mark price, Offer starts and Offer ends. Cost price, when cost and margin tracking is on and your role may see costs
Stock	Status, Max per order, Track quantity, In stock, If you lower the stock, why? and Alert at
Codes & unit	Barcode, External ID, Batch ID, Unit, Unit value, Unit label
Shipping	Weight, Length, Width, Height and Ships: As product (yes) or As product (no), Yes, No. A blank weight or size uses the product's value, shown in grey
Sales channels	MPN, and a tick box per channel to keep this variant out of it
Pictures	Image, and a Gallery when the image gallery is enabled
Switches	Active and On offer

The price, offer dates, stock and reason fields work as on a simple product: see Prices and offers and Inventory fields.

Select Save variants at the bottom to save every row at once. Undo changes resets the form.

Things to know

A variant with no price shows No price in orange. Give every variant a price before you sell the product.
A variant with Active off shows a Hidden badge and cannot be chosen by customers.
Saving the product's Details tab sets Active on every variant to match the product's own Active switch. Check hidden variants again after you save there.
In a shop with more than one location, In stock is the total and cannot be typed here. Select Set per location to open the variant's own page and enter the stock per location.
Generating variants is refused when they would take you over your plan's product limit, or when your plan has ended.

To change the same field on every variant, use Bulk edit variants.
