With Tabby or Tamara the customer pays the provider in instalments and the provider pays you. Two providers are supported: Tabby and Tamara.
Where each one is offered
A provider is offered only when your shop's country and currency together match one of its markets.
| Provider | Country and currency |
|---|
| Tabby | UAE with AED, Saudi Arabia with SAR |
| Tamara | Saudi Arabia with SAR, UAE with AED, Bahrain with BHD, Kuwait with KWD, Oman with OMR |
Neither is ever offered to a shop that prices in INR. The currency must also have the same number of decimals as the platform. See Currency and decimals.
When customers see it
All of these must be true:
- The provider is in your Payment Gateways list.
- Your country and currency match, as above.
- The provider is connected. Tabby also needs the merchant code of your own market.
- The order amount is inside your Minimum order amount and Maximum order amount. Blank means no bound.
If any is false the method is left out of checkout. The provider can still reject an amount outside its own limits when the customer tries to pay.
Authorise, then capture
When the customer finishes at the provider, the payment is authorised, not yet captured. You are paid only for captured payments.
Capture when on the card decides the moment:
| Choice | Captured when |
|---|
| Order picked up / shipped (recommended) | The order is picked up or shipped |
| Order delivered | The order is delivered |
The Tabby card notes that an uncaptured authorisation may be auto-captured by Tabby after 21 days. The Tamara card says Tamara auto-captures after 21 days. A failed capture is retried in the background.
Cancelling an order
Cancel a Tabby order before capture and the authorisation is released. Cancel a Tamara order before capture and it is cancelled at Tamara. Cancel either after capture and it is refunded in full through the provider.
Refunds go through the provider
Tabby and Tamara are the only payment methods where a return can be refunded to the original payment from the panel. Choose Original payment method when you refund the return. See Refunds by payment method.
The background check
Every 15 minutes the platform completes Tabby and Tamara payments whose customer never came back to the store, and retries failed captures and releases. See How online payments are confirmed.
