Ask for one of a fixed set of changes in words, review the edits it proposes, then apply or discard them.
The Assistant button in the editor's top bar opens a panel where you type what you want changed. "Describe a change and I’ll prepare it on your draft. You review every change before it’s applied — nothing is published."
The Assistant works in offline mode, shown by an Offline badge beside its title. It understands a fixed set of requests only. They are offered as examples in the panel:
Several of these can be combined in one message. Anything else is answered with the list of what it can do, and nothing is changed. It does not write or generate text.
Select Assistant. The panel takes the place of the settings panel.
Type in Ask the assistant, or select an example. Press Enter or select Send. Shift+Enter starts a new line. The field takes up to 2,000 characters.
The Assistant answers with a list of the edits it prepared, headed for example "3 changes". Nothing has changed yet. If the request needs no edit, for example the bar is already hidden, it says so and offers nothing to apply.
| Button | Result |
|---|---|
| Apply | The edits are made on your draft. "Applied — undo with ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z." |
| Discard | The proposal is dropped. "Discarded." |
Applied edits are ordinary draft edits. Check them in the preview, adjust them by hand, and publish when ready. The Assistant never publishes.
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "The draft changed since — ask again." | You edited the draft after the proposal was made. Send the request again |
| "The assistant is unavailable right now. Please try again." | A temporary problem |
| "Connection problem — please try again." | Check your connection |
Close the panel with Close assistant, or select Assistant again.
