Add, reorder, hide, duplicate and delete the items a section is built from.
Some sections are built from smaller parts called blocks: the slides of a slideshow, the questions of an FAQ, the columns of a footer, the parts of a product page. Sections without blocks have settings only.
In the Sections tab, select the arrow at the start of a section's row. The blocks appear under it in the order they show on the website. A section that cannot hold blocks has no arrow.
The block is added with the theme's starting values and its settings open.
| What you see | Reason |
|---|---|
| Block limit reached (6) in place of Add block | The section holds a set number of blocks. Delete one first |
| A kind of block is not in the list | That kind has its own limit per section and has reached it |
Limits differ per section and per theme. The catalogue pages give them, for example Header and footer sections.
Select the block in the sidebar, or select that part of the section in the preview. The settings panel shows the block's settings. An arrow at the top, "Back to" and the section's name, returns to the section.
The fields work as in any section. See Field types.
These names are the buttons at the top of the block's settings panel. On the block's row in the sidebar the tooltips name the block instead.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Drag the handle | Changes the order within the section |
| Hide block / Show block | Keeps the block but leaves it off the website |
| Duplicate block | Copies it, with its settings. Greyed out when a limit is reached |
| Delete block | Removes it. A notice "Deleted …" offers Undo |
A block stays in its own section. It cannot be dragged into another one.
Every step can be undone with Undo.
