Create a gift card yourself, for goodwill or as store credit, and have the code sent to the recipient.
Issuing a card creates a new code with the balance you enter. No payment is taken and no order is created. The card is money you owe in goods from that moment.
Go to Marketing Tools › Gift cards and scroll to Issue a gift card.
Fill in Recipient name if you like. The form accepts no contact at all, but then nothing is sent, so give at least one:
With both contacts filled in, the card is sent on both channels.
Select Issue gift card. The card's page opens.
| You see | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Gift card issued and sent to the recipient." | The card exists and its delivery has been queued |
| "Gift card issued. It has no e-mail or phone: nothing was sent." | The card exists, but nobody has the code |
The card is sent in your shop's name, with the value, the code and the expiry date. Delivery is not held back by marketing consent or quiet hours.
"Sent to the recipient" means queued. If neither channel can send, the card's Delivery ends as Not delivered. Fix the channel, then use Send the card to the recipient again on the card's page.
The card is valid for the period in New cards are valid for at the moment you issue it. It is listed with By the shop in the Issued column.
| Message | Cause |
|---|---|
| "Enter a valid phone number." | The WhatsApp number could not be read as a phone number |
| The amount is refused | It is below 1 or above the per-card limit |
