Read the running totals of an open shift, then count the cash, close the shift and get its Z-report.
The X-report shows an open shift so far and changes nothing. Closing the shift compares the cash you count with the cash the till expects and stores the result as the Z-report.
You can read and close a shift you opened. The owner and Shop Managers can read and close any shift at their locations.
Select X-report in the bar at the top of the till. It opens in a new tab. You can also open it from the Shifts tab.
It has the same layout as the Z-report shown further down. A line under the heading says "The shift is still open: these figures can still change." Select Print to print it from the browser.
| Section | Rows |
|---|---|
| Sales | Number of sales, Subtotal before discounts, Manual discount, Offers and coupons, Tax, Net sales |
| By payment type | Cash, Card, Wallet and Gift card, each with Taken, Refunded and Net |
| Refunds | Number of returns, Refunded |
| Gift cards | Paid with gift cards, Put back on gift cards |
| Cash drawer | Opening float, Cash sales, Cash refunds, Cash in, Cash out, Expected cash |
Expected cash is the opening float, plus cash sales, minus cash refunds, plus cash in, minus cash out. Change given to customers is already taken off the cash sales.
Select Close shift in the bar at the top of the till. The panel says "Count the cash in the drawer. Sales stop at this register until a new shift is opened."
Select Close shift and confirm "Close this shift? Sales stop at this register until a new shift is opened."
The till opens the Z-report of the shift.
The Z-report has the same sections as the X-report, taken at the moment of closing. It adds:
Closing is written to the activity log with the expected cash, the counted cash and the difference. The counted cash becomes the suggested opening cash of this register's next shift. See Choose a register and open a shift.
A closed shift cannot be reopened. Find its Z-report later in the shift history.
Closing a shift and reading its reports never need the POS register add-on. A shift that is open when the add-on leaves your plan, or on a register that became locked, can still be closed.
