A search is counted once per shopper per visit. Searches that look like an e-mail address or a phone number are not recorded. Counts are anonymous: the report never shows who searched.
Counting stops while recording is off. The page then says "Recording is switched off: new searches are not counted. Switch it on under Settings below." See Search settings and synonyms.

Table
Shows
3. Top searches
The 50 most searched terms: Searches, Change, No results, Clicks, Added to cart and Ordered
4. Searches with no results
The 50 terms that most often found nothing
5. Found but not clicked
Terms searched at least 3 times with results, where nothing was clicked or added
Change compares the term with the previous period. New means it was not searched in that period.
Ordered counts orders when they are placed. For orders paid online, that is when the payment lands. Orders cancelled or not delivered later are not taken off.
