A unit is one onboarded certificate with its own invoice counter and hash chain. Every shop has one unit for the shop. You can add one per location.
A unit per location
Turn the option on
In Seller details, tick A ZATCA unit per location (each location onboarded separately, with its own invoice counter and hash chain) and select Save.
Open a location
A new card, ZATCA units per location, lists your locations. Each shows Uses the shop's certificate until you start its onboarding. Select a location to open its steps.
Onboard it
Run the same four steps as for the shop, with a separate OTP for each location. See ZATCA onboarding.
A document is signed by the unit of the order's fulfilment location. Orders of a location without an active certificate are signed by the shop's certificate, so you can onboard locations one at a time.
If a location's certificate was issued for simplified invoices only, its business (B2B) invoices are signed by the shop's certificate. Tick B2B before onboarding a location if it should sign business invoices itself.
With no locations, the card says "Your shop has no locations yet."
Print the branch address
Print the location's address as the seller address on documents signed by a location's own unit replaces your registered address with the branch address on those documents. Name, VAT number and commercial registration always stay the shop's.
With location units on, Location addresses for ZATCA appears in Seller details. For each location, enter Street, Building number, Additional number, District, City and Postal code.
A location's address is used only when every field except the additional number is filled. Otherwise the shop's address is used. The building and additional numbers take 4 digits and the postal code 5.
Renew a certificate
Once a unit is Active, its steps are replaced by Renew the certificate. For the shop's own unit, the card shows the date under Certificate expires.
Get a renewal OTP
On the Fatoora portal, generate a renewal OTP for the unit.
Enter it
Type it in 6-digit OTP and select Renew. The page confirms "Certificate renewed."
Your invoice numbering continues after a renewal.
A reminder is recorded once in your Activity log when an active certificate is within 30 days of expiry. Each location unit is renewed on its own.
When things are refused
| Message | Cause |
|---|
| "There is no active certificate to renew." | The unit is not active in this environment. Finish onboarding instead |
| "This environment already has an active certificate. Use Renew instead." | You selected Create key and CSR on an active unit |
| "Choose a location of your shop." | A branch address was sent for a location that is not yours. Reload the page and try again |
| "ZATCA did not renew the certificate:" and a reason | ZATCA refused the OTP or the request. The reason is ZATCA's own |
