Record what to give the customer instead if a product turns out to be unavailable.
Substitutes are products the customer accepts in place of an ordered item. You set them per order line on the change page, so the picker knows what to pack if the shelf is empty.
With Enable Order Substitution on, customers choose at checkout what to do about unavailable items, for example to be called, to get a substitute, or not to have the item delivered. Their choice shows on the order page as Substitution:.
On the order page, select Modify Order.
On the product line, select the substitutes button. Its tip reads "Substitutes: what to give instead if it's unavailable". A dialog titled Substitutes for and the product name opens.

On the order page, the line now shows Customer accepts instead: with the products, and Substitution note: with your note.
